Job Description: Mid-Level Strategist
Agency: Intense Group
Location: Ikeja GRA, Lagos (Hybrid)
Reports to: Head of Strategy and Account Planning
1. Role Overview
The Mid-Level Strategist is the architect of the “Big Idea.” You are responsible for turning complex client business problems into clear, inspiring creative briefs. You will sit at the intersection of consumer psychology, market data, and cultural trends. Your job is to ensure that every campaign for our high-stakes clients is rooted in an insight that drives both “vibe” and “ROI.”
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Portfolio Management
- Multi-Brand Orchestration: Manage the strategic direction for 7 distinct Honeywell sub-brands, ensuring each has a unique “Reason to Believe” while maintaining parent-brand equity.
- Consumer Mining: Conduct “street-level” and digital research to understand the shifting dietary and purchasing habits of the Nigerian consumer.
- BTL & Activation Strategy: Design the strategic “plumbing” for campus, market, and in-store activations (similar to the Adour model) to drive product trial and conversion.
B. Financial Services Strategy
- Timeline Synchronisation: Manage “always-on” and campaign-specific briefs for Stanbic, ensuring strategic alignment across multiple concurrent project timelines.
- Complexity Simplification: Translate complex financial products (Pension, Wealth, Insurance) into simple, emotional narratives that resonate with diverse Nigerian demographics.
- B2B & B2C Integration: Develop strategies that speak to both the retail “Man on the Street” and high-net-worth institutional investors.
C. Internal Strategy & Group Growth
- Intense Group Infrastructure: Support the Intense Group by developing strategies that have an impact on the bottom line.
- Signal Capture: Act as the agency’s internal “trend-spotter,” feeding cultural insights into the Group’s commercial roadmap.
- KSS Leadership: Lead monthly Knowledge Sharing Sessions (KSS) to improve the “strategic IQ” of the account management and creative teams.
3. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Brief Quality: 90% “First-Time Approval” rate of creative briefs by the Creative Director.
- Brand Growth: Measurable increase in brand affinity or usage for the 7 Honeywell brands.
- Timeline Efficiency: 100% on-time delivery of strategic decks for the Stanbic account.
- Strategic ROI: Ability to link strategic recommendations to the client’s bottom line (e.g., the $100k revenue target model used for LIT).
4. Who You Are (The Ideal “Intensifier”)
- The “Insight Miner”: 3–4 years of experience in a fast-paced creative agency. You can find the “human truth” in a spreadsheet.
- Platform Native: You understand the difference between a “LinkedIn Strategy” and a “TikTok Culture” and can write for both.
- The Articulate Presenter: You can sell a strategy to a room of CMOs with confidence and clarity.
- Systems Thinker: You use tools like Zoho Projects to organise your thinking and validate your data.
5. What This Role Is Not
- Not a Copywriter: You provide the “map,” but the creative team paints the “landscape.”
- Not an Account Manager: While you manage timelines, your primary focus is on thinking, not just the admin.
- Not a “Fluff” Role: We don’t do strategy for strategy’s sake. If it doesn’t move the needle for Honeywell or Stanbic, it isn’t Intense.
6. Why Join Intense Group?
- Portfolio Diversity: You will work on everything from FMCG (Honeywell) and Banking (Stanbic) to Internal brands.
- High Ownership: In line with our TIGER-O values, you will have the autonomy to lead your accounts without micromanagement.
- Exposure: Direct access to Senior Leadership and the opportunity to influence the “stabilisation and growth” of a multi-market group.
